The initial formality of Caruso St John’s café for the newly restored gardens of Chiswick House soon gives way to something more complex and mysterious
This week sees the completion of a £12 million restoration of the pioneering landscape garden that Lord Burlington began establishing around his villa at Chiswick, in west London, in the second decade of the 18th century. More than 1,600 trees have been planted, long obscured vistas recut, vanished statuary replaced by close copies. It is a glorious transformation.
See you soon Chiswick!!
