Alchemy Keeps on Rolling

Whilst dusting out the archive vault we recently found the Alchemy production station which was developed a few months back.

This year Campaign will be involved in London Design Festival with the Alchemy collection featuring heavily. The Alchemy table is still growing to house the evolving team here in studio, as soon as we have new shots of this all will be published.

We love this//Maxim Zhestkov

23-year old Russian video artist Maxim Zhestkov is also an industrial, motion and graphics designer – and his work is inspired by science: the universe, the infinite and fractals. The worlds he creates are black and white architectures where sounds blend with space to create unusual kinaesthetic effects.

Of his latest hypnotic work in which a black sphere deforms and moulds space, Zhestkov says: “I have tried to reflect the concept of the universe between the infinite and border as a pulsating place of energy and magnetism.”

FRIENDS of Campaign//April 77

Studio Campaign are huge fans of cult French label April 77 they have formed themselves as iconic rock and roll denim brand with the clothing and music label now following that up. We are huge fans of the shop in Paris and love the look of the 77 records outlet.

Campaign//inspired.....Picasso

Studio campaign just found these amazing images in archive vault of Picasso creating his wonderful light graffiti in 1948.

One can only now make comparisons in the 21st century to the work of onetotwentytwo and front, it's just a shame Pablo never had the technology to form these in to 3d prints.

FRIENDS of Campaign//Rough Luxe

Campaign studio will be sending all their friends and relatives to this great hotel which has been on our radar for sometime.

Just a step away from King’s Cross station and tucked away down a quiet side street is a very surprising new hotel. It’s called Rough Luxe and the look and feel of this Georgian terraced house is the creation of designer and gallery curator Rabih Hage.

FRIENDS of Campaign//PS LAB

PS Lab who Studio Campaign are currently working with have recently completed a restaurant in Cairo, Eqypt from its "organic steel factory".

Like the studio's other projects, the lighting in Tamarai Restaurant has an industrial aesthetic, but every piece shows signs of the hand.

Another great project.

SERPENTINE SUMMER PAVILION
12 JULY – 18 OCTOBER

The arrival of the Serpentine Gallery pavilion indicates that summer is here. This year, the Kensington Gardens gallery has asked Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of SANAA to create the space. Described by the Japanese architects as a sheet of “floating aluminium, drifting freely between the trees like smoke”, it’s more like a canopy than a structure. This is the firm’s first building on British soil. But this year’s pavilion will get some competition, as London-based firm Carmody Groarke’s permanent 7/7 memorial is also set to open next door in Hyde Park.

Young Architects Program 2009: Afterparty by MOS
On view June 28, 2009 - September 28, 2009
The Museum of Modern Art and P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center announce the winner of the 2009 MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program: the architectural firm MOS. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the program, which affords emerging architectural talents the opportunity to design and present innovative projects. Five finalists selected by an invited nomination process were asked to present an urban landscape for the large courtyard entrance of P.S.1, with the allotted project budget of $70,000. The architects were required to incorporate elements of shade, water, seating, and bar areas into a proposed project. MOS's winning landscape, Afterparty, will be on view in P.S.1's outdoor courtyard starting in late June, and will serve as an immersive environment for the 2009 Warm Up summer music series.

MOS architects Hilary Sample and Michael Meredith say, "Today, we are rethinking and resituating architecture-not only its conceptual and formal economies but also its inherent ability to engage and produce visceral intimate environments. This project, Afterparty, is a temporary urban shelter and passive cooling station for P.S.1 and its Warm Up events, creating an escape from the summer heat and constructing a network of large, medium, and small cellular spaces that allow for intimacy and social formations to thrive."
